Teriyakis - Psychics to Sidekicks EP (Priapus)
Teriyakis, from Kansas, seem to occupy a weird niche between indie rock and psychedelia. They certainly can
step on the effects, in an odd manner that is closer to 13th Floor Elevators than to the shoegazing crowd, but
some parts of their songs sound like Small Factory.
This 1998 EP is catchy and well-recorded (by Bob Weston) but something about it feels a little bit flat.
Despite all of the crazy organs and xylophones on this record, it's still mainly driven by a jangly,
frantically-strummed guitar sound. Still, some parts made me smile and it's certainly pleasant enough.
