Sonna - The Eventual Bow EP
(Temporary Residence)

Forget about the Bonny Billy, Papa M, or Low EP's, Sonna's installment in the Travels in Constants series is the one you should be kicking yourself for not getting. The series is a subscription only dael, so if you want to get copies of the EP's now, sorry, but it's too late. I believe that Temporary Residence and the bands split 1000, so the band does get quite a few. So contact Sonna, and maybe you can get a copy.

Following the general trend with the series, this release is a mellow outing for Sonna. "The Eventual Bow" is a 20-minute, 3 track EP, and there are no song names listed. The songs build into and out of each other, making the release very fluid. It begins with a 3 note melody that repeats and works as the basic thread that the song follows. It repeats for a minute or two, then a second guitar comes in, playing sparsely. Three minutes into the song, the bass starts playing a melody, but it's buried deep enough in the mix to keep it form taking the song's helm from the three tone pattern's hypnotizing repetitiveness. After five minutes, drums and an acoustic guitar come in (and track two begins, though it's just the second half of the same song), carrying the lazy melodies through a few variations.

The seamless changes and developments make "The Eventual Bow" the strongest release thus far of Sonna's discography. Compared to like minded bands (Tristeza, Aerial M, etc.), Sonna has proven to be more than capable of holding their own, if not bettering the others in their class.
