Six Organs of Admittance - Dust and Chimes
(Pavilion)

What do you get when you put an open tuned acoustic guitar next to a dude who likes Ravi Shankar and can really play... I mean REALLY! The answer is Six Organs of Admittance. As soon as the tablas on track three come in along with the Mark Bolan type singing, I'm hooked.

This sort of music doesn't ever go out of style. People on Atlantis most likely heard something resembling the Six Organs of Admittance when they wanted a dash of drone to go with their togas. Anyway, my point is that good guitar playing matched with entrancing songs and mystical lyrics is timeless.

At times, the singing tended to take me out of the trance; I don't really feel like the singing is all that necessary in this musical context. Perhaps if the singing wasn't so high in the mix, I would be a bit happier... but maybe I'm stupid.
