SIANspheric - There's Always Someplace You'd Rather Be
(Sonic Unyon)

SIANspheric are... well, I guess I don't really know a single thing about them. I think they're from Canada.

A really quick description of the band could be a more indie rock version of My Bloody Valentine. Sonically, they are very My Bloody Valentine. The guitar sound is that trebley distorted wall with a more distinquished sound a little lower in the mix. However, the songwriting is more like an indie pop/rock band.

There's Always Someplace You'd Rather Be runs the full spectrum, from droned out tonal collages to rock (well, as rock as Bardo Pond or My Bloody Valentine get). "I'm Feeling Better" is an ambient song with an acoustic guitar which dissolves into noisy tones, droning out for several minutes until the guitar comes back in. "Eight Hundred Mixer" is a pretty pop song with no walls of distortion; just a simple chord progression, straightforward drumming, and subdued vocals. I like this album a lot and hope to hear more from (and about) SIANspheric soon.
