11 out of 12 Prison Shake 7" cover

Karp - Prison Shake 7"
(Up)

Karp's self-titled album on K Records is among the hardest hitting rock records recorded. Nirvana's "Bleach" is the closest comparison I can come up with. There's just enough pop to make it seem okay that you are listening to metal. Karp's thickly distorted bass dispels any possibility of treading into lite-metal territory. It's all rock, all the time. This 7", their swan song, is a continuation of what they did on that self-titled album. The B-side, "Rowdy," has a change to half-time that is so Black Sabbath it makes me want to tear the sleeves off of my t-shirt. This 7" is so good that it almost seems unfair that they broke up after releasing it.
