Her Space Holiday - Home is Where You Hang Yourself
(Tiger Style)

Her Space Holiday's newest release is a double CD on TigerStyle Records. The first CD contains 10 new songs, and the second is remixes of various bands done by Her Space Holiday.

Home is Where You Hang Yourself opens with the title track, which shows a progression in Marc's writing style. He seems to be writing more complex songs, while still keeping them very simple and straightforward. "A Matter of Trust" and "Home is Where You Hang Yourself" stand out as the most pleasing songs on the first CD. Two of the songs, "Snakecharmer" and "Through the Eyes of a Child," are the only disappointments (for somewhat minor reasons). "Snakecharmer" would be great if it weren't for the drum machine experimentation that detracts from the feel of the song, and "Through the Eyes of a Child" is spoiled by the "good God damned reason" lyric. All in all, they're small complaints.

The second CD came as a big surprise to me. I'm not at all a fan of remixes, so I assumed I wouldn't care for these. Instead, I found the second CD even more enjoyable than the first. The remix of Duster is my favorite, as it keeps the feel of Duster but adds a little more depth. The MicroMars remix is charming and retains nearly all the original elements of the song with a couple extra melodies thrown in. The remix of Bright Eyes is the biggest shocker for me as I am a big fan of not liking Bright Eyes, but I enjoyed this remix a lot. While this album is a little less than what I had hoped for, it's a nice addition to the Her Space Holiday story.
