Urdog - Garden of Bones
(Secret Eye)

Mentions of Urdog slowly began popping up online, slowly draping their name across the underground late last fall.  Their debut album (after a self released CDR in 2003) is a volatile and entrancing document of a band who has hijacked the kraut rock mothership, using the controls built by the masters (Amon Duul, Ash Ra Tempel, Agitation Free, etc).

Despite the fact that the majority of this album spaces out and drifts gently on waves of pulsing organ, delayed guitar buzz and gentle hypnotic drumming, there's a sense of bombast and bubbling energy that colors the whole record giving it life.  "Zombie Cloud" is the only track to really explode, and even that only really lets loose halfway through.  "Long Shadows" is a quiet hymnal.  "Urdog Awaken" is spastic and almost silly.  The appropriately named "Triumph" ends the album on a huge high note with a slow intake of positive energies and blissful release.

Having established a close friendship with Cerberus Shoal, and fitting in with the gritty underground psyche scene, Urdog's presence is sure to be one to stay in touch with.
