Read Yellow is one hundred percent bona fide high energy, punked-up rock and roll. No frills, no theory, no ballads. They have clearly ingested the aesthetic of punk rock: play fast and loose and as hard as they can. It's primal and raw. They have not, however, fully disconnected from the dirty, libidinous swagger of pure rock and roll. It's like the Hives cranked up even further. It's like the Blues Explosion with more explosion and less blues. It's like the intensity of Drive Like Jehu forced through the stripped down riffage of AC/DC. 4 songs, 13 minutes, pow pow pow pow.
