Red Card is a tough one for me because, though I don't particularly care for this record, I don't think that it is a bad one. I have this nagging feeling that there is some crucial connection that is not being made between their amps and my ears. In many respects this records has a bunch of crap that I love. It's full of hyper-kinetic energy; loud, loud, loud guitar that slashes through the sound; propulsive bass; and a distinctive vocalist whose strong voice, whether growling or in weird falsetto, is as clearly expressive as any of the other instruments. These guys clearly love the punk, but in that weird way that Brainiac and Blonde Redhead did/do, though Red Card is not nearly as arty-farty as either of them, and more furious than both combined. So what's not to love? I don't know. If you like furious punk rock that is for dancing as much as for shouting, then maybe this one is for you.
