10 out of 12 Acoustic Rain cover

Tinh - Acoustic Rain
(East Wind)

Acoustic Rain is an album of acoustic guitar solos. It has been out since February and was released around the same time as Tinh's other album, My Vietnamese Suite, which was recorded earlier. Much of the music on the Acoustic Rain is inspired by Tinh's past in Vietnam, where he lived during the war, but other songs were inspired by things such as seeing his son sleep, or his friend, John Fahey's music.

Because Tinh is portraying these experiences and emotions with his guitar, some songs are quite complex, and the rhythm and dynamics are surprising. He plays with skill and maturity, and the music is dramatic and expressive. Some songs are soft, like "To Heal the Wounded Hearts" and "Liam's Lullaby," and others are dynamic, changing moods often during the song, like "Butterflies in a Pagoda." There are also two cover songs, "Home/Auld Lang Syne" and "The Star-Spangled Banner," both of which, Tinh writes in album cover, have special meaning to him. Although many people may not relate to the personal experiences that inspired this album, there is something about the music that goes beyond these experiences and is touching because it portrays common feelings of contentment, sorrow, fear, and peace.
