The Quick Fix - Novel Weapons
(Ernest Jenning)

The Quick Fix play East Coast style post-hardcore with roots in Fugazi, but influenced by the more experimental and bizarre hard rockers that proliferated in the wake of the death of rock. They mix up thudding stop-start rhythms with fluid, intertwining guitar lines, drums that can both skitter and thump, and white, college-boy vocals. Their songs are steeped in intensity, and soaked in tension, but are smart enough to come at you sideways, and twist around your neck, instead of just the regular straight punch on the head of old-fashioned rock and roll. They can bust it open, and they can play the slow burn. To quote the singer on "Get Your Chops Together," "Uh huh, oh yeah." If you love the D.C. scene, then checking out this four song EP will be well worth your while.
