Parker and Lily - Hello Halo
(Orange)

Hello Halo would be the perfect soundtrack to a movie about a girl or a boy who has a serious crush on somebody. The music is saturated with longing and melancholy. Its steel guitar, warbly keyboards, and xylophone create a heavy atmosphere that envelops the half-spoken lyrics of Parker and mournful singing of Lily. Not every song is as slow and sad as others, although they are all similar. In fact, some songs sounded too much like each other, which I found to be a downfall of the album. But there are many wonderful songs, like "Desert Holiday," which is one of those that is a little sad, but right after it comes "Morley," a cool little instrumental piece. It's magical and eerie with light drumming and bass, hovering keyboard notes, and a rich saxophone that takes turns with the steel guitar. Hello Halo is a lovely album to have on hand just in case you just want to hear some somber but beautiful pop. Most likely the album will come in handy.
