Mirah - Cold Cold Water EP (K)
Mirah's Cold Cold Water EP includes the album and an acoustic version of "Cold Cold Water," stripped-down versions of "Make It Hot" and "Apples in the Trees," and excerpts of "Cold Cold Water."
The acoustic songs are simple, but they are just as lively and bright as the songs on the album, and they emphasize Mirah's matter-of-fact voice and creative lyrics. I'm not sure why the excerpts were included on the EP, since they are each just a few seconds long, and they simply replay vocal or percussion tracks that we've already heard in the song.
If you are thinking about buying Advisory Committee, or if you already own it, you may want to think twice before purchasing the Cold Cold Water EP unless you are a die-hard Mirah fan. This is simply because, although you are getting different versions of the songs, there is nothing truly new on the EP.
However, it is definitely worth hearing. Maybe you know someone who owns it and you can borrow it, or you can find it used. But if you want a really good excuse to get the Cold Cold Water EP, buy it for it's cover, which features a darling drawing of a cowgirl leaping onto her horse above a rambunctious Western scene. Yippee!
