Yellow 6/2 By Bukowski - split 7"
(Pop Art)

Yellow 6's track, "The Room," really surprised me. It's a fast tempo song that has a much more pop-driven feel than any of Jon Attwood's past releases. This comes closer to Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine than his past Eno or Windy & Carl leanings. A jangly rhythm guitar follows the drum pattern while a descending guitar line soars overhead. I love it!

2 By Bukowski's song is driven by a predictable bass line, accented by keyboard sounds (is that keyboard supposed to sound like some guy whistling in the background?), and some handclaps. I'm sure this would be a pretty big success at a party where people are hoping to do some dancing, but that just doesn't appeal to me.
