8 out of 12 Poised to Break cover

Sunday's Best - Poised to Break
(Polyvinyl)

This record it is somewhat of a letdown for me. I like Where You Are Now, Sunday's Best's 1998 EP, quite a bit, and think it shows a lot of potential for a strong follow up. I was really hoping they would transcend the stereotypically emo elements that were prevalent on Where You Are Now and come into their own with the full length. That didn't really happen. In fact it seems on Poised to Break, the band more fully embraced emo clichés. That being said, I still enjoy listening to this record. In fact I'm left with the same reaction I had to Where You Are Now. There are some good songs on it, and the band shows a lot of potential.
