Saso's Warmed Up EP is subtly beautiful. It's quiet and simple, and keeps a melancholy, wintry mood throughout, which isolated notes of piano and guitar create on many songs.
The EP begins with "Introduction," which is unadorned chords and melody played with a piano and synthesizer, and for the most part, the other songs on the EP follow this sort of sound. In "I'll be the Judge of That," the guitars, bass, and synthesizer combine to make a lovely undulating sort of sound, the drumming is perfectly light, and the vocals blend in well, not demanding too much attention. It's too bad that in the middle of this song there is a distracting sample of dialogue from a film or TV show. This sample is really my only complaint about the EP.
The last song, "All My Life," is the most complex as far as the instruments go. There is an airy synthesizer, high notes of a piano, and a clear electric guitar. The song gradually gets more full, with a velvety bass and more piano, as well as some picked notes of an acoustic guitar. The singing is also airy and high, to fit the instruments. The song is also embellished with violin and other strings while synthesizers hover in the background. It's pretty, as is the entire EP, and very worth your time and money.
