Reynolds - Field Recordings
(Gringo)

Reynolds is a British band that stylistically kind of picks up where June of '44 left off before Anahata. It's satisfying, well played guitar rock full of nice Telecaster scrape and twang, crisp drumming, and buried vocals used more for texture than message. Songs mostly lay back with anticipatory picking and timekeeping, patiently waiting for the right moment to burst out into angular riffs that disappear again before you really have a chance to bang your head and think "this is heavy metal." Reynolds don't have the impact, energy, or occasional spookiness of the real June of '44's recordings--in reality they're probably more comparable to Ativin or Dianogah--but if you want to hear a completely non-sissified British take on Chicago-style rock, this is perhaps your best chance.
