Maya Shore - Farewell to Introductions
(Music Fellowship)

Maya Shore finally release their long awaited full length after three years of waiting and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! From the first time Kelly Chambers' guitar trickled across my speakers, I was hooked. The melodious interplay between Wade Chamberlain's complementary basslines and Kelly Chambers' arpegiated guitar and heartfelt voice are enough to send shivers down my spine!

Maya Shore's music is certainly not based on a will to experiment or stretch their artistic boundaries past the point of breaking. They simply write great songs and use what they have to present them the best way they can. It just so happens that Maya Shore is an excellent band with excellent songs. On top of that, they obviously spent a lot of time honing this set of recordings to the point where every performance seems effortless and every note, be it from the guitar, bass, cello, or keyboard, is in its proper place.

The recording itself is uber-clean with no trace of tape hiss for miles and miles. Usually, I find that this sort of clinical recording style takes away from the personality of the record, but in the case of Farewell to Introductions, I must make an exception. The clean sound actually serves to bring the listener closer to the heart of Maya Shore and exposes their greatest talent... pure heartfelt emotion.

With all of the artists nowadays overreaching, stretching boundaries, and making music only for those who "get it," Maya Shore present the wonderful alternative of great music that is easy to like.
