hollAnd - Drums EP
(Pulcec)

Trevor Kampmann (a.k.a. Trevor Holland) is an incredibly talented musician. Not only does he record wonderfully upbeat and catchy synthesizer-pop solo records under the moniker hollAnd (previous solo project names include See Saw and Sea Saw), but he is also a small label owner (Pulcec, the label this EP is released on) and a much sought after recording engineer/producer.

I have been captivated by Trevor ever since hearing his first Sea Saw album, and I have yet to be disappointed in one of his solo releases. His new release, Drums, is no exception. Drums is a 7 song, 12 minute and 17 second electro-pop masterpiece, full of pulsating rhythms, layers of melodies, candy-coated hooks, bouncy and overdriven keyboard bass lines, fuzzy electronic noise, and sensual vocals.

Though all of Trevor's releases are wonderful, with Drums, Trevor has reached a new level of song writing. The songs are more succinct, leaving out any filler, the hooks are tighter and more focused, and where some of his earlier recordings could be more easily compared to Mark Robinson's Air Miami or a more upbeat Magnetic Fields, Drum comes across as uniquely and 100% his own.
