Firewater - Psychopharmacology
This formulaic "mod sound" 60's pop throwback resembles the worst
imaginable cross between the Apples In Stereo and Smash Mouth's greatest
hits. Like the Apples, the music is catchy, cleanly recorded and played,
but much less fun. The singer's contrivedly gravelly voice and
obtusely "clever" lyrics ruin any chance that you'll listen enough times
that the hooks (which, to be fair, are present in spades) will really sink
into your head.
