12 out of 12 In Flight Audio cover

Füxa - In Flight Audio
(Ché)

By far Füxa's best release, In Flight Audio is the standard by which spacey pop albums should be judged. The CD runs a little short (just over 30 minutes), but every second of this release is brilliant, so I'm not complaining. This has mostly new songs, which all show a more focused and thought out Füxa than on past releases. There are plenty of smooth transitions from analog keyboard drone atmospheres to blissful guitar driven pop songs, which make this not only their most focused record, but also their most varied to date.

"Sky High" which originally was released on a split 7" with Stereolab is one of the standouts, and in my opinion, ranks among the top few Füxa songs ever. "Intro (Welcome to the Füxa)" has a sample of a guy talking about airplanes and an airplane taking off buried beneath a few layers of synth drones. "Intro" is followed by "Limited Sight Distance," which has an unusually complex guitar part for Füxa. "Greenfield" was on the Greenfield 12" and is a very nice Füxa standard. Every song on this record is awesome, and the songs all follow the sort of sound Füxa achieved with "Dreamlanding" (another of my favorites). In Flight Audio is perfect and is a must have.
