THE LIST 2001 is finished, and the record of the year for 2001 as voted by
you and the other readers of this site was...
The Microphones The Glow, Pt. 2
receiving 15% of the votes. Fennesz's Endless Summer and
Boredoms Vision Creation Newsun came in close behind with about 10%
each.
This year's results are a bit more diverse than last year's where two
high profile releases got about half of the votes; draw your own conclusions
about what that means about the year in music that was 2001.
Full results, as well as personal top ten lists from thirteen of
our writers (who, by the way, voted Stars of the Lid The Tired Sounds of
... as best for 2001), are available here.
Aside from the recap of THE LIST voting, there is a ton of other great material
this issue. For starters, fakejazz writer Cory Rayborn sat
down with Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg to discuss his new solo work under the name Preston
School of Indsutry. Also, writer John Fail made it to Irving Plaza for
one of the Mission of Burma reunion shows and has prepared this report. Aside from that, there
are almost 40 reviews.
