Since we started this site, we've used a twelve point rating scale in all our reviews. Perhaps you've never noticed, but each rating links to a page that describes our rating system. Any record that is rated a 12 should be bought "as soon as possible." Anything with a 9 through 11 is a solid recommendation; you should buy this new when you get the chance. Of course, the lowest ratings, a 1 or a 2, mean you should "laugh at people who own this" record.

What we didn't know when we made up this rating system is how much it would seep into other parts of our lives. Now we can't help but to rate everything. "This meal was only an 8." So what, we'd recommend you buy it used?! "My orgasm last night was only a 5." You'd borrow it from a friend, though? What's up with that? This whole rating system has taken over our lives, and it has done so in a somewhat odd, illogical way. I think it works pretty well on rating records though.

Well, finally, the next issue is ready. As some of you have noticed, this was delayed a couple weeks; it was probably for the best to delay it though as any issue we could have made two weeks ago would have been very tiny. Bad planning on our part, I guess, as many of our writers went on tours and vacations during this time. What we have put together this issue seems pretty solid though: almost 40 reviews and a new Cooler Than You article, this time featuring skinhead bowling companions Camper Van Beethoven.

Two other new items we should mention. First of all, the message board was finally put back up a couple weeks ago. We upgraded it to a more sophisticated system, so it should work better than the last board. Please post something if you get a chance! Also, and more importantly, we have yet another contesti this issue. This time we are giving away a copy of Landing's new album Circuit (Sassy Cute Band Alert!). You don't have to do anything but give your name to enter, so give it a shot.

If you have any questions about the site, please send us an email or check out our brand new, super fancy message board. Look for our next issue on August 17th. Thank you (sincerity rating: 7/12).
