The most fucking metal Double Leopards record to date. Evil, menacing drones rip open the portal to the netherworld then piss and spit down into it, mocking the dark spirits as they scurry away from the light. The standard waves of feedback-smeared guitar and vocals are buzzsawed to bits by hard pulses of Whitehouse-like grinding, creating a harsh sonic environment. Sometimes this harsh environment can be taken as industrial. Side B is titled "White Cadillacs" so maybe we should take the banging of metal sheets as the spirit of the machine and the buzzing chug of guitar feedback as the pulse of its pistons. However, the environment seems very organic and natural, as the sounds aren't a persistent cold din but rather ferocious growls, scared tweets, and exultant oms - that is closer to the sound of the Earth than the sound of machines. "Inmost Light" opens Side A with some of these growls, jarring the listener with angry, abrasive sounds, as if these Leopards are tearing their prey limb from limb. As the beasts calm down, continuing on Side A with "Chemical Wedding," the listener is tricked into thinking we'll get another lulling drone from the group. However, this "Wedding" builds slowly to a fierce guitar fluctuation, rising like spirits out of the ashes after cremation. Completely intense.
