TV Gilmore Girls Ep 115 Season 6 - Welcome to the Doll House

gilmore.jpgIf you missed this episode, you didn't miss much. In fact, it has me thinking that the WB should start doing for "Gilmore Girls" episodes what DirecTV does for Sunday football games - condense them to the 5 or 6 minutes of actual plot and offer that on a "on demand" basis. The stuff that happened between snaps this episode largely centered on Taylor renaming the streets to make the town seem more attractively quaint to tourists. Will this topic ever be mentioned again? Will there ever even be reason to mention the Dragonfly is on Sores and Boils Lane? Ummm... no. The whole Taylor diversion wasn't particularly entertaining either - it gave a chance for Michel and Sookie to make multiple appearances, but the writers didn't give them much to do other than say "Whattawedo? Whattawedo?" The actual plot was handled in two scenes. In the first, Richard happens upon Logan (temporarily) leaving the pool house. He invites him in for a "night cap," which evidently doesn't mean "sex" in this case; it means drinking expensive scotch. Richard grills Logan on Rory to try and find out if and when she plans on returning to school. Of course, Logan misinterprets this as the typical parental "when's the wedding" snooping, which in true "Three's Company" fashion, leads to extended Ma & Pa Gilmore hijinx. It's always great when they give Emily a good line, and here she remembers finding a drawer full of Tootsie Rolls while snooping in Lorelai's (#1) room, to which Richard replies "Did you look underneath the Tootsie Rolls?" As has become standard with the "Gilmore Girls," the last scene also continues the plot, as Richard comes to Lorelai to voice his concern and seek her help, bringing her childhood doll house with him. Emily had threatened to give away the doll house in hopes that it would force her daughter into visiting. Richard bringing the doll house is a grand gesture towards reconciliation, not to mention a feat of strength and testament to a Jaguar's trunk space, as that thing is as big as a La-Z-Boy.
