Baltimore's The New Flesh contribute ten-or-so minutes worth of lo-fi noisy punk. The band's live performance reminded me of really early Swans—huge, nasty bass sound, lots of Rat pedals, squeals and feedback. Unfortunately, the recording kind of limits them here. The aggressive drumming doesn't quite come through, and everything is a little on the trebly side. The result is a little less driving, a lot less heavy, but still worth a few listens. Sounds something like label-mates Whats Yr Damage or Confusion is Sex-era Sonic Youth, but more pissed.
Charleston's Puke Attack play loose, jazz-influenced punk, driven by fuzzed-out bass with some high-pitched guitar and sax squeals thrown on top. The drumming is upbeat and busy, the nasal vocals buried deep in the mix. For something similar, mix late Black Eyes, Half-Japanese, and Antioch Arrow, drink through a funnel, puke it up, and listen to the results.
As far as I know, this is self-released, but mine came without any real liner notes. You can probably get it through Cephia's Treat.
