TV Gilmore Girls Ep 110 Season 6 - New and Improved Lorelai

gilmore.jpgGilmoremania continues with the first episode of Season 6, or is that just Gilmania. No, I think Gilmania is probably about Gil Thorp. Anyway, both the best and worst moments of this episode happened in the first five minutes. Best? Luke answering Lorelai's proposal with an emphatic and unequivocal yes. Worst? Seeing Logan's name in the opening credits, making it clear that, yes, Tristan Part Deux will be around for the whole freaking season. After that initial roller coaster ride, the rest of the episode was pretty mediocre. Lorelais one and two don't talk to each other at all, word of Lorelai one's proposal gradually makes it about town, and Lorelai two deals with her trial. Unfortunately, Lorelai two somehow gets the judge from Reunion, who totally screws her just like she did Craig by throwing out the plea agreement and laying down a much harsher sentence. And Lorelai one isn't even there to support her. There were a lot of weird things in this episode. First, how the hell has Paris never met Luke? She's spent countless days in Gilmore house and attended countless Stars Hollow events, and she's never met the owner of Luke's Deli? Also, Logan's "For She's a Jolly Good Felon" party is just too over the top. I mean, I know Yalies like their costume parties, but you already made that point with the Tarantino party, if not for the overly elaborate Skulls-esque "Life and Death Brigade" parties. Also, it's a little disheartening that in Gilmore world all Yalies are white and the only foreign student is Australian. The episode served more as a table-setter for the rest of the season, but it had its moments. The weekly Kirk cameo was once again great, revealing his hobby of befriending infirmed old ladies for their estate jewelry, and I enjoyed Luke and Lorelai searching for decent liquor to celebrate their engagement but only finding a case of Zima.
