Voice Sutra is perhaps the least interesting of the three Root Strata CDRs as it is a single 28 minute song made using just voice and shruti box (an Indian drone instrument similar to the harmonium) with a little percussion and a lot of electronics, creating gentle waves of drone. However, the purity of the song creates a sound that is delicate and soothing - like a massage for your overworked synapses - making it great incidental music well suited towards helping quiet afternoons drift away. Mind you, Ledesma is a little devilish here. Like Kawabata on one of his extended solo pieces, he'll throw in a harsh tone just to make sure you're awake - here Ledesma blows out a circuit or two in the beginning of the song - but once the drone starts flowing strongly, the trance will not be disrupted.
