Over the course of these three tracks, 1/3 Octave Band's "The System..." smatters my speakers with deconstructed tone poems. The first is just under 20 minutes of desolate feedback and growling drones, painting a soundscape of an alien crag of rocks. Dark, foreboding and creepy. The second (and shortest) track, carries the idea further, but strips it of all ornament leaving only the barest moan and creak present. The third, nearly 30 minute long track, slowly unleashes a gentle fury of distorted feedback and note bending sonic shiver, propelling the mood deeper.
