Gilmore Girls Ep 106 Season 5 - But I'm a Gilmore
This episode could have been one of the best this season, if you were able to take out all the Rory and Logan storyline which took up about half the episode. Man oh man can Tristan II grind an episode to a halt. The side storylines were all great. Paris' relationship with Doyle took somewhat of a parallel direction as Logan and Rory's, as Paris returned from a weekend boozing it up in Stars Hollow to find Doyle sick in her bed after spending the whole weekend thinking he was just ignoring her calls. The appearance of Supernanny 911 led to some great moments, including Doyle's "but you're pre-med!" punchline, which was just as funny when Rory said it again a few minutes later. Even Doyle's cry of "I'm being salved!" when Nanny first took over caretaking duties was somehow very funny. The Sookie storyline was also nice. I really doubt Luke is that good of a chef; he can follow a recipe maybe, but I felt it was disingenuous of the writers to turn him into some sort of goat cheesing, sauce straining supermanchef. Both Luke and Jackson's stand-by-your-woman soliloquies were great, Luke venting his frustration but openly admitting he was still stuck there to finish off the night and Jackson puffing his chest but admitting his weakness and then berating Lorelai as he "sped away" in the golf cart with Sookie in tow. Yes, those storylines were great, but the Logan and Rory storyline was nonsense. First off, it's obvious they're trying to change Rory to make her less perfect, however I think that makes her less appealing. Sure she can make mistakes - she did with Dean and Jess - but to act stupid, be a dirty little slut, and openly defy reason when talking with dear old mom is a bit too unRorylike. More importantly, though, the meeting with Logan's mother and grandparent was just totally unbelievable. The writers should know that if you have to have all the characters remark on how bizarre it was that Logan's family won't accept Rory, then it is probably too bizarre to fit into the Gilmore universe.
