With six weeks between episodes and little fanfare that a fresh episode was forthcoming, I found myself on Wednesday afternoon foraging the torrents for the latest Gilmore installment. What if the episode recap missed out on some highly important tidbit that would otherwise leave me clueless for the rest of the season? What if some unspoken word between Lorelai and Luke went unreported, leaving me in a total fog for all eternity?!
Well, guess what, like most episodes this season, Lorelai and Rory dotted around various parts of Connecticut, doing stuff that was largely unimportant, before some big plot device revealed itself at the end. Or rather two plot devices. One plot device was Rory's sobfest over Tristan Part II not returning her phone calls that ended the episode. Not so much a cliffhanger, but rather a whocareshanger or maybe a nowtheycanmoveonfromthatcraphanger. The other plot device, at least, was related to the heart of the episode. For a then unknown reason, Luke expressed interest in Taylor's latest community project, this time turning a house donated to the town into the town museum. Luke's ulterior motives of wanting to buy the house for his imagined future family with Lorelai is sure to fuel discussion about how serious this relationship is getting! How totally bizarre though that Dean made an appearance and showed a major chip on his shoulder, telling Luke his Gilmore Girl relationship would surely end the same way Dean's did.
Much of the episode centered on town flavor as the Stars Hollow-ites put together the museum and then attended its opening. To continue Lane's storyline and her newfound "wait til marriage" philosophy, she mistakenly thinks her boyfriend Zach is cheating on her with music store owner Carole King (at least it wasn't Sally Struthers). However, it turns out he had just started a bluegrass band and was embarrassed to tell her because she is so rock. Her reply was that bluegrass is awesome, as long as Zach was the one playing it. But what the hell is she talking about, bluegrass is always awesome!!!!
