This collaborative 12" from Comets on Fire and Burning Star Core is totally intense and insane. The first side is an amazing Hawkwind-esque freakout that is held together by a great, fluid bass part. Searing, wiggling, screeching, acid-laden guitar riffs fill the space creating an energetic, dizzying room full of sound, building and building in tension to the rapid-fire beat of the drummer. One of the greatest Comets on Fire songs yet. The second side opens with a completely over-the-top Southern rock guitar riff. Its big thick sound gives meat to the song as the drummer pounds like a madman and some guys squeal distorted squeals in the background (why am I thinking of Deliverance?). The song disintegrates, grinding to a halt with an extended drum roll before bringing the hott lixx back again for a short outro. With half the side left, the bass player tries to get something started with a lurching, pounding bass part. Eventually drums, feedback, and devil screams join in, never breaking out of the lurch but creating a big, menacing cloud of ear-ringing noise.

let us not forget how the packaging on this one is very nice and pleasing with the nice white silk screen job on the black cover. simple, stark and very good stuff.
