Some great momemts during "Lost" last night, but also some frustrating plot devices that seemed to be there merely so J.J. Abrams doesn't have to tell too many secrets (or maybe so he doesn't have to figure them out yet himself). First Claire has amnesia (reminiscent of Jack's wife Teri in the first season of "24"), then after (defying all reason) they bait and capture Ethan using nothing more than Matthew Fox's two fists, Charlie shoots him before they can ask him any questions. So what did we learn? Essentially nothing. And unless or until the Rousseau woman reappears or Ethan comes back from the dead (which I'm not ruling out - he was rather Jason-like last night), the island's mysteries will continue to be mysterious. Despite the frustratingly closed-lipped plot, the episode was rather suspenseful. It was less centered on the backstory this time, but the flashbacks to Charlie's attempts to live a straight life did make him a little bit more of a tragic figure, showing his rock star life was long over. It also gave Abrams a chance to give a shout out to "a paper company in Slough" (referencing "The Office").
