Finally, an episode half devoted to Lane and her mom! Well, I say that only partially sarcastically, because the Korean jam session was pretty amazing, with Gil (Sebastian Bach) totally rocking out on the zither/kumongo. However, despite the comedy of combining Lane's rock band with a bunch of Koreans (and the great Kirk appearances), this episode could have used more Rory and Lorelai. The inevitable Richard and Emily reconciliation finally happened with a crash (literally) as Richard rear-ended Emily as they arrived (needlessly) in separate cars to the same dinner party. It was the first of two fairly pained plot devices, the second of which was an out-of-the-blue visit by Emily to Christopher's house that ended the episode, warning him about the seriousness of Luke and Lorelai's relationship. It's setting everything up nicely for next week's big 100th episode, however it feels sort of like they are rushing through the story instead of setting things up slowly and organically like they did the first couple seasons.
